Refund, Cancellation & Billing Policy
A few terms are still being finalised. They are marked Not settled yet below. Where a decision has not been made we say so, rather than state a number we would not stand behind. If one of them matters to you, email johnsontechstudio@gmail.com and we will tell you where it stands, in writing, before you rely on it.
This policy explains how Johnson Tech Studio LLC dba gig33 (“Johnson Tech Studio,” “we”) handles cancellations and refunds. It works together with our Terms of Service, and it is written for businesses buying for business use.
1. What you are paying for
- A one-time setup fee, charged when you buy. It pays for real work done by a person at Johnson Tech Studio — building your site, configuring your assistant, writing and checking your content, and provisioning your domain and phone number.
- A monthly plan, charged every month until you cancel. It pays for hosting, support, updates, and running your assistant.
Both appear on your first invoice together. There is no free trial.
2. What you are shown before you pay
Before you authorise payment, your checkout page shows the amount due today, the setup fee, the monthly amount, how often it will be charged, and that it continues until you cancel. Nothing that costs money is pre-ticked for you, and cancelling is something you can do online without calling anyone.
You tick a box to accept the documents before you pay — it starts unticked, and we record that it did. We keep the exact wording you were shown with your order, the prices you were quoted, the version of every document, and a fingerprint of each so it can be checked later. If we cannot write that record, you are not sent to payment at all. Section 11 explains why the version stamp matters, and your Terms of Service section 1 sets out exactly what is stored.
3. Cancelling is not the same as a refund
Cancelling stops future charges. It does not automatically refund money you have already paid. If you want money back, you have to ask for it — cancelling on its own will not trigger one.
- How to cancel. Open the billing page on your account, which opens Stripe’s own billing portal, and cancel there. Or email johnsontechstudio@gmail.com with your business name and account email and tell us to cancel. We will not make you phone anyone or sit through a retention pitch.
- When it takes effect: the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancelling stops the next charge. Your service keeps running until the end of the month you have already paid for, and it is not cut off the moment you click cancel. We do not prorate or refund the remainder of that month — you keep the service instead.
One caveat, because it is true today: the self-serve cancellation runs inside Stripe’s hosted billing portal, and the setting there that enforces this automatically has not been switched on yet. The policy is the policy either way — if you cancel and your service stops earlier than the end of the month you paid for, email johnsontechstudio@gmail.com and we will put it back for the rest of that period. You should not have to notice, but if you do, that is on us to fix. - Confirmation. Ask us for written confirmation of your cancellation and its effective date and we will send it. Not settled yet — we do not yet send one automatically from our own system.
4. How refunds actually work here
We do not have an automatic refund button, and we are not going to pretend we do. Every refund request is read and decided by a person, and if we approve it, a person issues it through Stripe back to the card you paid with. That means:
- There is no self-service refund in your account.
- You will get a decision from a human, not an automated reply.
- How long the money takes to show up on your statement is up to Stripe and your bank, not us.
5. How to ask for one
Email johnsontechstudio@gmail.com and include:
- your business name and the email address you used at checkout;
- which charge you are asking about, and roughly when it was made;
- what went wrong, in your own words.
If something is broken or is not what you were told you were buying, say so and give us the chance to fix it first — usually that is faster than a refund and you end up with the thing you wanted.
Ask within 30 days of the charge. For charges made on or after the effective date at the top of this page, please send a refund request within 30 days of the charge you are asking about, unless the law or a written order we both signed gives you longer. This deadline does not apply to anything you were charged before that date — section 11 explains why. We may ask you to confirm a few details before issuing money back, to make sure the request is really from you.
6. What we will generally do
Here is what is true today: we review every request in good faith, we look at how much work has already been done and how much of the service you have already used, and we may refund all of a charge, part of it, or none of it. We would rather fix the problem than argue about the money.
On the setup fee specifically: we treat it as earned only to the extent we have actually done the corresponding work or have irreversibly paid a third party for something on your behalf. If you cancel before we have started, there is nothing for us to keep.
We are not going to dress the rest up as a guarantee, because it is not one. Two things are genuinely undecided, and you should know which:
- Not settled yet — whether the setup fee comes with a “first N days, money back, no questions asked” guarantee. There is no such promise on this page today, so please do not buy on the assumption that one exists.
- Not settled yet — whether a monthly charge is refundable once that month has been used. What is settled is that cancelling mid-month does not refund the unused part — you keep the service to the end of the period instead (section 3). Whether we would ever refund a month you had already used is a judgement we make case by case, and we are not going to write a rule promising one way or the other.
If either of those matters to your decision to buy, email johnsontechstudio@gmail.com and ask before you buy. We will answer in writing and we will stand behind the answer.
7. What is not refundable
- Domain registrations. Once a domain is registered, that registration cannot be undone or returned — the money is already spent with the registrar. You keep the domain: you are its registered owner. Check the spelling carefully before you confirm one.
- Voice minutes you have already used, including per-minute overage. Those calls have already been placed and already cost us money.
- Third-party costs already paid on your behalf at your request — phone numbers, messaging registrations, and similar.
We will not add an optional paid extra to your account without your say-so.
8. When a feature changes because someone else changed it
Parts of this service depend on other companies — a phone carrier, Google, a booking system. If one of them changes its rules, restricts an interface, or suspends your account with them, that on its own is not a refund, as long as we are still delivering the thing you bought or a reasonable equivalent. If it means we can no longer deliver what you paid for, tell us and we will sort it out.
9. Credits instead of cash
Sometimes a credit against your next invoice is the quicker fix, and we may offer one instead of a cash refund — but only if you agree to it. A credit applies to future Johnson Tech Studio charges, has no cash value except where the law says otherwise, and expires after 12 months unless we say otherwise when we give it to you.
10. What a refund does — and does not do — to your service
Be aware of this, because it surprises people:
- A refund does not cancel your plan. If you want the monthly billing to stop, you have to tell us to cancel it as well. Ask for both in the same email and we will do both.
- A refund does not take your website offline or switch off your assistant. Nothing is shut down automatically. If you want the service stopped, say so.
- Your domain is separate. You remain its registered owner regardless of any refund.
If we have to end your service because you seriously broke our Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy, money you have already paid is not refundable, except for anything we agree we have not earned.
11. Which version of this policy applies to you
The policy that applies to a charge is the one in effect on the day that charge was made. That is why the version and effective date at the top of this page matter, and it is why a new rule here — like the 30-day request window in section 5 — does not reach backwards to a charge you paid under an older version. If a written order we both signed says something different about refunds or cancellation, that order wins. Nothing here takes away a right you have that cannot be given up.
12. Chargebacks
Please talk to us before disputing a charge with your bank. A chargeback is decided by your card issuer, not by us, and it takes longer than just emailing us. Opening a dispute does not cancel your subscription. If you do open one, we may suspend your service while it is open, and we will respond to your card issuer with our record of what was bought and delivered. None of that stops you disputing a charge you genuinely did not authorise.
13. If a partner introduced you
If an independent partner referred you to us, a refund also reverses the commission we paid that partner. That does not affect you, and it is not a reason we will refuse a legitimate refund — but it is why refunds are reviewed by a person rather than issued automatically.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The version and effective date at the top of this page will change when we do, and section 11 governs which version applies to a given charge.
